The old forester's house in the Rhenish Hessian community of Gimbsheim is one of the most important structures in the 1500 year old town. Today it is considered a cultural monument .

history

The old Gimbsheimer Forsthaus is one of the oldest buildings in the local community: Its history begins in 1721 when it was built by the forester Johannes Schwarz from the Electoral Palatinate . In its early days, the property also served as a forester's house. When Schwarz died five years later in 1726, Johannes Rehn from Nordheim took over the property after marrying a local woman. Then the building fell to the Free Francis Walter. In the following, Johann Muth, Rudolf Weyrich, Jakob Heid and Philipp Adam Ohnacker are named as owners of the property.

Almost 50 years after its construction, the Gimbsheimer Försterei was finally closed in 1770. Now the property fell into private hands for the first time. Shortly before the First World War , the old Gimbsheimer Forsthaus was finally completely restored in 1912. Today the old forester's house is used as a private residential building.

The old Gimbsheimer forester's house has been designed as a half-timbered house in the Baroque style since it was built . Furthermore, two pairs of windows moved closer together and a single window reveal the division of rooms and chambers inside the building. The house also has a half- hip roof and a historic gate system from the 18th century.

location

The old Gimbsheimer forester's house with today's address Rathausstrasse No. 17 is located in the southwest of the Rheinhessen local community. The property is also on Rathausstrasse, one of the main streets in Gimbsheim, which also forms part of Kreisstrasse 48 at this point . Furthermore, the old Gimbsheimer Forsthaus is about 200 meters as the crow flies southwest of the Catholic Church of the local community and about 500 meters as the crow flies west of the Evangelical Church of Gimbsheim.
