history
The post office Altona North was opened on April 11, 1960, when the place developed into an independent community. In 1966, the post office was renamed Beevers as a new Altona North post office opened on Duke Street south of the old one. In 1986 the Altona Gate post office replaced the Beevers post office.
Industry
Altona North is home to one of the only two oil refineries in Victoria . It belongs to ExxonMobil .
