history

Old rye frame emerged from the Johans-Gut, mentioned as early as 1650 and named after its owner Johan in der Rahmede, which was also leased from Elbrocke. In 1700 it was the inheritance of Johann Dietrich Hessmer, who also appeared as an authorized person in the Rosmarter Mark. Heinrich Wilhelm Geck also acquired this property from the heirs of the landlord, brewer and fusel distiller Levin Hessmer before 1750, on which an Osemundhammer was also built and operated. In 1885 the local parish was founded. The services took place in the Oberrahmede, Mühlenrahmede and Rosmart schools. Then the Prussian Ministry of Culture bought a plot of land on the Stockey for the church, rectory and cemetery for 4,300 marks. The foundation stone was laid on May 16, 1889 and the Friedrichskirche was inaugurated. It was named after the terminally ill Emperor Friedrich III. dedicated on November 4, 1890.

Four years earlier, in August 1886, the track construction of a one-meter gauge from Altena to Lüdenscheid had started. On October 1, 1887, the Altena Railway was opened to public transport and one day later the beginning of the railway age in the Rahmedetal was enthusiastically welcomed and celebrated by the population. When the Fuelbecker Dam was built and inaugurated seven years later, from 1894 to 1896, the place Altroggenrahmede grew beyond itself and became largely self-sufficient in the years to come. There were two bakeries, a butcher, a Sparkasse branch, doctors, pharmacy, shops for groceries, metal and electrical goods, hats and women's clothing, the parish already mentioned, its own water and telephone network with a separate area code. As with many farms and villages, the name was also formed here by the names of the Altrogge families, which were established early and are still widespread in the local area.
