Großendrescheid is a hilltop village with a good two dozen houses northwest of the Rahmedetal between the towns of Lüdenscheid and Altena in the Märkisches Kreis .

history

As early as 1533, the old hereditary property was divided into four farms, all of which were authorized in Dickenhagener seed wood. The oldest known owner was Johann Grote in 1533. In 1641 the estate went bankrupt, it was measured and estimated at 1462½ thalers . However, it seems to have remained in the possession of the Grote family, because in 1676 the farmer Dierich Grote is mentioned here. Since 1757 the farm has been owned by the Spelsberg family, whose owners used to run a farm and an inn, but today only call a restaurant and hotel their own.

Johann Stivens Gut was owned by Gossen and Hinrich Stive in 1533. In the Thirty Years War (1618-1648) the estate was heavily in debt. In 1720 there was a division, ⅓ of the estate, called "in the Schüren", came into the possession of Anna Maria Puel, whose son-in-law Caspar Diedrich Rahmede took over this part of the estate in 1766 for 660 Reichstaler. His descendants worked here as farmers until 1842. Two thirds of the farm were owned by Johann Diedrich Duläus from Altena until 1748, from whom Johann Peter Altrogge bought this part of the estate for 1050 Reichstaler.

Ownership changed several times through inheritance, marriage and death. Fridag's estate was a noble lease owned by the Lords of Buddenborg. In 1650 Junker Freidag zu Buddenborg was its owner. It came into the possession of the Knefel family through the Dresel family. Here, too, the ownership structure has changed several times. The Thirty Years' War affected the entire Sauerland population, especially the farmers. Many lost their lives, their cattle were stolen, their houses and stables set on fire. The Knefels house had burned down and fell into disrepair, and the land was devastated. The last of the old Drescheider estates was Gottschalk Puels Gut. Its owner is named in the documents as Deneart op den Dreesche. In 1650 the property was heavily in debt and temporarily came into the possession of the church in Altena. In 1676 Tieges Puel was its owner. After that it remained the property of this family for over 100 years, later it was bought by the Altrogge family.
