Hein King
Hein König (born January 5, 1891 in Großendrescheid , today Altena , North Rhine-Westphalia ; † August 30, 1971 in Munich ) was a German academic painter and from 1925 to around 1970 owner of the well-known private painting and drawing school Die Form in Munich- Schwabing .
Life
Hein König (civil: Heinrich König) was born in 1891 as the son of Catholic parents in Großendrescheid, Westphalia, now a part of Altena. His father was already an invalid when he began studying with Carl Johann Becker-Gundahl at the drawing school of the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich on May 2, 1917, at the age of 26 . After successfully completing his degree, König founded the private painting and drawing school Die Form in 1925 as an academic painter at Leopoldstrasse 61, on the top floor (fourth floor) in Schwabing. After all, this school existed for almost five decades and in the 1960s it became a so-called state-recognized educational institution for drawing, painting and visual arts. König left behind numerous paintings and drawings that are still sold today at auctions, sometimes with the reference to Schwabinger Schule . He was also known to the Tukan-Kreis , an artist group from Schwabing. Some sources also name Hein König as a professor of painting.
