Zum Hohle is a location in the Altena district of Altroggenrahmede in the Märkisches Kreis , North Rhine-Westphalia .

history

In 1533 there was the farm of Johann Husser, on which Gerhard Huess lived in 1733, when he was in the possession of the government councilor Hymmen and the court clerk Grüther. After 1750 Leopold von der Crone and after this Diedrich Leopold von der Crone and the widow Peter Hücking owned the estate. The name Hücking was later also the name of the district, it was called Hückings-Rahmede for many years.

The name Zum Hohle comes from the former innkeeper Adolf zum Hohle, who had his restaurant and surrounding lands there. When the Altenaer Railway (Kreis Altenaer Eisenbahn) ran through the Rahmedetal on a scheduled basis from 1887 , restaurants with ticket sales were set up at all stations and this stop was named Zum Hohle. The restaurant was later called Funke and was the cultural center of the Rahmedetal for decades because it had a large hall in the back. It was used for gymnastics, theater events took place here, the Rahmeder clubs celebrated their festivals there and for many years the Westmark Lichtspiele screened films here. Until the end of the 1950s, handball was played on Sundays on the Gottmecke sports field. The nearby Fuelbeck Dam has been a destination for hikers, photographers and visitors to the restaurant since its inauguration in 1896.

The main workshop of the Altenaer Eisenbahn district was also located in Zum Hohle, with a double track for train crossings, goods handling and a water supply point for the steam locomotives. Diagonally opposite was a meadow that was bought from the innkeeper. A two-class elementary school with teachers' apartments was built on it and inaugurated in 1892. This school was called the Volksschule Zum Hohle. In the semi-detached house next door is the Stern-Apotheke, which has existed since 1902, and apart from the apartments there is a doctor's practice.

Until the end of 1968, the Hohle was part of the municipality of Lüdenscheid-Land , Altena district , in the central Rahmedetal between Lüdenscheid and Altena . With the regional reform , it was added to the Altroggenrahmede district and has been part of the Märkisches Kreis since then.

Today there is only a section of road left to the Hohle , which stretches up from Rahmedestrasse to the Hummelnstück residential area. The name Zum Hohle can still be read in the German basemap .
