The Altus Skyscraper is the tallest building in Katowice , Silesian Voivodeship , Poland . It is located between Spodek and Rynek (market square), opposite the university at 13 Uniwersytecka Street.

history

Construction of the building was supposed to start in 1997 but has been delayed again and again due to financing problems. In 1999 Mostostal Zabrze took over the implementation of the plans. The building was constructed from 2001 to 2003. Half a year after it opened, the building was sold and the name was changed from "Uni Centrum" to "Altus". After several changes of ownership, the building is 185 mio. Zloty has been sold.

Technical specifications

It comprises 30 building floors and is 106 meters high, with a mast even 125 meters. The volume is 270,430 m³ and the gross floor area is 68,815 m². The building consists of three parts, a 4-storey atrium, an 18- and a 29-storey part. It has a total of 18 elevators.

The Altus has a high degree of automation , including a central building management system .

In the building there is a four-star hotel (Qubus Hotel) with 150 rooms. It extends from the 19th to the 27th floor. There is a bar on the 27th floor. In the atrium there are cafes, banks and a casino as well as a cinema center. Offices for several companies are housed in the 18-story block. The underground car park on the 3 basement floors offers 500 parking spaces.
