The Alvárez Glacier is a glacier in the Explorers Range of the Bowers Mountains in East Antarctica, Victoria Land , which flows from the southwest flank of Stanwix Peak to the Rennick Glacier , which it reaches immediately north of the Sheehan Glacier .
It was mapped by surveying work by the United States Geological Survey and with the help of aerial photographs by the United States Navy between 1960 and 1962. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it after Lieutenant Commander José A. Alvárez of the Argentine Navy , who was part of the International Geophysical year 1957 as a meteorologist at the research station Little America V worked.
