Alvaredo is a Portuguese parish ( freguesia ) in the Concelho Melgaço .

The freguesia is located in the north-western area of ​​the concelhos. The Freguesia Paderne borders in the east and the Freguesia Penso in the south and west . In the north, the Minho River forms the Portuguese border with Spain.

The place was curate of São Fins, the Society of Jesus and later the University of Coimbra before it finally became independent. Until 1855 it belonged to the old concelho Valadares .

The patron saint of the community is St. Martin .
