Alvaro Zinno

Alvaro Zinno (born August 6, 1958 in Montevideo , Uruguay ) is an Uruguayan-Italian photographer .

Life

Zinno, who originally worked as a civil engineer from 1987 to 1996, studied drawing and painting at Clever Lara in 1980 and later turned to photography in particular. From 1997 to 2000 he worked for the production companies Imágenes and Paris Texas . During this time, documentaries were made about the Uruguayan painters Juan Manuel Blanes and Pedro Figari . For the next three years he worked in post-production and TV advertising for the production company Taxifilms and was director for Uruguay, Chile , Puerto Rico , Spain and Mexico . He then worked from 2003 to 2005 as art director and designer for Warner Brothers TV Network in Los Angeles. In 2005, Zinno was responsible for the short film El Elástico as both director and producer . In 2007 he founded the company CrystalBox . From 2009 he worked for Oriental Films .

Artistic activity as a photographer and exhibitions

The photographer's works have already been shown in solo exhibitions since 1983 and international joint exhibitions, for example in the USA (New York, Miami, Los Angeles), Argentina, Chile, Mexico and Venezuela and also in 1999 under the title Through new eyes can be seen in Time Magazine . In 1983 he received an invitation to participate in the Salón Nacional de Fotofrafía . A year later his works were selected for the BID exhibition in Punta del Este . In 1987 he took part in the Ouro Preto Biennale in Brazil . In the same year a Fulbright scholarship followed for a photography project in New York. He was also selected for the AICA exhibition lo mejor de 1987 . In 1993, his works were part of the Primer Espacio de Fotografía exhibition organized by the Museo Juan Manuel Blanes (MJMB), along with those by Astiazarán, Urruzola and Schettini . In 1999 an exhibition followed in the Salón Municipal de Exposiciones . In the following year, eight Uruguayan photographers took part in the joint exhibition of the Museo Nacional de Artes Visuales (MNAV) with the name El ojo mecánico encarnado .
