Alverich (Brandenburg)

Alverich (also Alberich , Latin Alvericus ; † after 1231 ) was Provost of Brandenburg .

Life

In 1213 he was named as canon in Magdeburg . At the end of 1216 or on June 18, 1217 he became the new Provost of Brandenburg as the successor to his brother Siegfried , who had recently become bishop. At that time Alverich was a novice in the Cistercian monastery in Lehnin . Around 1224 he was sent with the bishop to the Ilsenburg monastery as papal executor . During his time, the canon Heinrich von Antwerp is said to have written the Tractatus de urbe Brandenburg.

Alverich was last named as Provost of the Cathedral in 1230 and retired to Lehnin Monastery in 1231, where he died at an unknown time.
