Siegfried II. († 1220 or later) was Bishop of Brandenburg from 1216/17 to 1220 .

Life

Provost of Brandenburg

Its origin is unknown. Between 1211 and 1214 he was Provost of Brandenburg . Before December 28, 1216 Siegfried was elected and consecrated as the new Bishop of Brandenburg. He was succeeded as provost by his brother Alverich .

Bishop of Brandenburg

The first document received from Siegfried dated December 28, 1216 confirmed the Brandenburg Cathedral Chapter's rights and possessions. Several places in Brandenburg were named for the first time. In 1220 Siegfried confirmed a donation from the knight Daniel von Mukede in a document . It is not entirely clear whether Siegfried or his successor was sent to the Ilsenburg monastery as papal executor .

Siegfried was last mentioned on September 30, 1220, the date of his death is unknown.

Succession

After Siegfried's death, Ludolf von Schwanebeck was elected the new bishop of the Brandenburg Cathedral Chapter and Wichmann von Arnstein of the Leitkau Monastery . However, neither received any papal confirmation, so that in 1222 Gernand von Brandenburg became the new Bishop of Brandenburg.
