career

The defensive talent from Augsburg celebrated its first successes in the ranks of the Bavarian association selection. In 1970 and 1971, Fink was a member of the successful Bavarian national team, which won the regional cup twice in a row . On October 6, 1970, Bayern won the final 2-0 in Karlsruhe against North Baden and on July 11, 1971 the final in Bayreuth 2-1 after extra time against the Lower Rhine. With the red-green-whites from FCA, Fink won the championship in the Bavarian League in the 1972/73 season and thus rose to the Regional Football League South.

In 1973/74, in the last year of the second division of the old regional league system as the foundation of the Bundesliga, the return of ex-national player Helmut Haller from Juventus Turin in Augsburg sparked enormous enthusiasm in the Fugger city. The FCA started the round on August 11, 1973 with a 6-2 home win played out in a superior manner in front of 18,000 spectators in the Rosenaustadion against VfR Heilbronn. In front of goalkeeper Hans Hauser , Claus Brandmaier , Heiner Schuhmann , Herbert Höbusch and Alwin Fink formed the defense. The second matchday brought the encounter against TSV 1860 Munich in the Munich Olympic Stadium. In front of sold-out stands with officially 73,000 spectators, they parted with a 1-1 draw. Coach Milovan Beljin relied on the same formation in the second home game in front of 30,000 spectators against the Stuttgarter Kickers and the promoted team won 2-0 after two goals from Erich Weixler . On the fifth match day, September 1, 1973, 35,000 spectators watched the 3-0 home win against FC Bayern Hof. Augsburg swam on a wave of enthusiasm and ended the round on May 4, 1974 with a 5-2 away win at Jahn Regensburg as champion of the Football Regionalliga Süd 1974. Alwin Fink had played 28 games and moved into the Bundesliga with his teammates Promotion lap. Augsburg failed there with two points behind Tennis Borussia Berlin , with the two direct duels each ending with a 2-2 draw. Fink was used in all eight games against the competitors Tennis Borussia, Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, Borussia Neunkirchen and FC St. Pauli.

Augsburg managed the feat of getting into the 2nd Bundesliga from the 1974/75 season onwards with only the points from the 1973/74 season due to the triple rating . KSV Hessen Kassel and Freiburg FC could not be considered with more points than relegated teams.

In the 2nd Bundesliga, however, the two-year sporting high did not last at the FCA. The last regional league south champion came only 12th in the debut round of the 2nd league. Fink defended in 23 games and scored one goal. As a second division player, he was used on September 25, 1974 at the international match in Bursa against Turkey by the responsible DFB coach Jupp Derwall for the first time in the national soccer team of amateurs . With his fourth appearance on March 9, 1976 in Offenburg against Austria - he formed the German full-back pair with Werner Schneider - his appointments in the DFB selection of amateurs ended. In the 2nd division he had only played six games in 1975/76. With his use on March 14, 1976 against the table leader 1. FC Saarbrücken ended his career in licensed football.
