The women's football division of América Mineiro (officially: América Futebol Clube ) was founded in 2015.

history

After América set up a women's team for the first time in 1983 for a short time, the professional organization of a club section for women's football was not tackled until 2015. The core of the new team was provided by players who were part of the championship team of the local amateur club Santa Cruz FC from 2014, including their coach Gabriel Luiz Magalhães. The new team played their first game on August 2, 2015 in the national championship against Real EC in Caeté , which they won 11-0. In the first game at home in Estádio Raimundo Sampaio ("Independência") on August 15, 2015, Nacional FC were beaten 6-0. The club's own Estádio Mário Ferreira Guimarães ("Campo do Baleião") has been the preferred home ground since the 2016 season .

In the first year, the team reached the final of the 2015 national championship, which they lost to Ipatinga FC . The championships of the following three years, however, could be won with superiority, with which the club underlined its supremacy in women's football in the state of Minas Gerais .

América Mineiro was able to compete in the national championship in women's football in its debut season in 2015, and since 2017 in their second division (Série A2).
