Am Hof is an inner-city street in Weißenburg in Bavaria , a district town in the Weissenburg-Gunzenhausen district in Central Franconia .

The street is located in the northwest area of ​​the listed old town , near the St. Andrew's Church . It runs from the Old Town Hall first in a westerly direction and then widens to a triangular square. From there it leads in a south-westerly direction to the city ​​wall , where it ends at the Scheibleinsturm .

history

The origins of the street date back to the Middle Ages . The name refers to the Carolingian royal court, which was first mentioned in a document in 867 and whose beginnings probably go back to the 7th / 8th centuries. Go back to the century. He is the nucleus of the future city. Its center, the area between Andreaskirche, Martin-Luther-Platz and the upstream street Am Hof, can be seen in the floor plan.

There are several buildings on the street that have been renovated with urban development measures. The former fountain, which previously stood on Saumarkt, was moved to Am Hof ​​street.
