Amalia Sartori (born August 2, 1947 in Valdastico ) is an Italian politician of the Popolo della Libertà , formerly Forza Italia .

Life

Sartori earned a doctorate in philology and worked as a teacher for several years. She was then assessor for road infrastructures and traffic in the regional government of Veneto , president of the Venice International Airport and chairwoman of the interregional alliance between the regions of Veneto, Emilia-Romagna and Piedmont for the administration of the waterway network Po Valley- Veneto. From 1990 to 1993 she was Vice President of the Regional Government of Veneto, from 1995 to 2000 she was President of the Regional Council.

Sartori has been a member of the European Parliament since 1999 . From 2002 to 2004 she was Deputy Chair of the Delegation to the Joint Parliamentary Committee between the EU and Bulgaria and from 2007 to 2009 Deputy Chair of the Delegation for relations with the NATO Parliamentary Assembly . Since January 26, 2012, she has been Chair of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy . In addition, she is Deputy Chairperson of the delegation to the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly from 2009 to 2014. She is a member of the Conference of Committee Chairs and the Delegation for relations with the countries of the Andean Community. She serves as a deputy on the Employment and Social Affairs Committee and on the delegation for relations with the United States.
