Peel Sound is a strait in the Qikiqtaaluk Region of the Canadian territory of Nunavut . Located in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago , it is bounded to the east by Somerset Island and to the west by Prince of Wales Island . It connects the Barrow Strait , part of the Parry Channel , in the north with the Franklin Strait in the south.
The Peel Sound has a length extension in north-south direction of 230 km. Its width varies between 25 and 50 km.
To the west of the Strait, between Prescott Island and Prince of Wales Island, there is Browne Bay .
There are a number of islands in Peel Sound. These include: Prescott Island , Lock Island , Vivian Island , Pandora Island , Otrick Island , Barth Island , De la Roquette Islands and Gibson Island
