The Hall Basin ( english Hall Basin ) is a wide spot in the Nares Strait . Geographically, it represents the midpoint between the Kennedy Canal and the Robeson Canal between the Canadian Ellesmere Island and northwest Greenland .

The strait is around 30 to 65 kilometers wide and around 80 kilometers long. In the east, the Petermann Glacier extends down to the Strait of the Sea. In front of the glacier are the two islands Joe Island and Offley Island . In the west is Lady Franklin Bay with the two islands Miller Island and Bellot Island .

The Hall Basin is named after the US polar explorer Charles Francis Hall .
