The Wellington Strait (German Wellington Strait ) is a strait in the province of Nunavut in the southern part of the Canadian Arctic archipelago . It runs off the northeast coast of King William Island between Tennent Island and Matty Island .
The strait was discovered by John Ross during his expedition from 1829 to 1833 and named after Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington .
