Amalie Pölzer
Amalie Pölzer , nee Baron , (born June 21, 1871 in Vienna ; † December 8, 1924 there ) was an Austrian politician .
Career
Amalie Pölzer first attended elementary and community school and learned the trade of white seamstress . She joined the association Bildungsquelle, for which she worked as a librarian. In 1893 she co-founded the Libertas reading and discussion club with Adelheid Popp . In 1901 she founded the Association of Social Democratic Women and Girls . From 1902 to 1920 she headed the social democratic women's organization in Lower Austria . From 1919 to 1924 she was a councilor and the first favorite to join the council. She was also a leader at the Favoritner Kinderfreunde and the Societas association. The Amalienbad was named after her.
From 1898 until her death she was married to the member of the National Council and Vienna City Councilor Johann Pölzer (1872–1934). Their son Johann Pölzer junior (1903–1964) also became a politician and member of the National Council.
