Amanda Rogers (born December 2, 1982 in Syracuse , New York ) is an American singer and pianist.

Life

Amanda Rogers grew up in Syracuse, New York and received classical piano training at the age of six. The first improvisations of my own emerged at that time. A little later she discovered the blues and pop . As a teenager, she took inspiration from Tori Amos and Fiona Apple . In the late 1999s, the album Here and Nowhere was created , combining pop with garage rock . Shortly after that, The Grant Sessions EP came out , which got much darker. With this album she was able to sign a record deal with Immigrant Sun Records from Brooklyn . She then toured as supporting acts for hardcore punk and indie rock bands such as Dashboard Confessional , Moneen, Murder by Death, Mates of State and Sensefield. In 2003 the album The Places You Dwell was created , which went more into the ambient direction. The following year she toured Europe for the first time, as a heat-up for Bats and Mice. Daily News was released in 2004 on the German label 2nd Records. Shortly thereafter she joined the band Jupiter Sunrise and played on the Vans Warped Tour 2005 , among others .

In 2005 she released the EP Something Borrowed, Something Blue . It was the final release for Immigrant Sun Records. Shortly afterwards, Jupiter Sunrise also dissolved. Rogers settled in Los Angeles , California and recorded the album Heartwood there, which was released on August 8, 2008. With her partner, singer and guitarist Mike Matta, she founded the folk duo The Pleasants . Their debut album Forests and Fields was released in 2010.
