Amaran ( Hindi for: 'everlasting') was a metal band from Stockholm that was founded in 2000, but disbanded at the end of 2005 after Johanna DePierre, the singer of the band, had left and no replacement could be found. Musically influences from Power Metal as well as Melodic Death Metal can be recognized. In addition, female singing is used, but not in the soprano , but in the normal voice range . The lyrics deal with the band's personal view of different things in the world.

history

The band was founded in 2000 by Kari Kainulainen and Ronnie Backlund, who met while studying philosophy in Stockholm. After the two had started to write songs due to their similar musical tastes and had enjoyed the first finished pieces, they decided to form a band. Mikael Andersson, an old friend of Kainulainen, and Johanna DePierre, who hadn't really been looking for a metal band, joined them via newspaper advertisements. So in 2001 the first demo was recorded with this line-up, but still with a drum computer . In the same year Robin Bergh was hired as a drummer and played first live appearances, as well as signed a contract with the French label Listenable Records .

In 2002, the band's first album, A World Depraved, was released. A year later the second CD Pristine in Bondage was recorded, which was then presented to the public in January 2004 . A video was shot for the song Inflict from the second album. In January 2004 there was also a tour u. a. with After Forever and Dark Moor , which was followed by a tour with the Swedes Katatonia in February .

2003 saw the first changes in the line-up: bassist Mikael Andersson quit. These continued in 2004 (Kainulainen, who wanted to devote himself to his new band Sibliance; Bergerståhl - Niklas Sandin from Siebenbürgen replaced him in 2005 ; Bergh, who later rejoined the band) and finally culminated in Johanna DePierre's departure in July 2005 the remaining members had looked in vain for a replacement, the band broke up in late 2005.
