Ambalavao is a city in the south of Madagascar with about 30,559 inhabitants (2005) in the Haute Matsiatra region . The place is on the national road RN 7 between Fianarantsoa and Toliara . A few kilometers to the west is the Anja Community Reserve for observing ring- tailed lemurs , a species of lemur .
