Ambros Ebhart OSB (* 21st July 1952 in Heinrichs bei Weitra as Karl Ebhart ) is abbot of the Benedictine - Kremsmünster .

Life

Karl Ebhart first attended Heinrich's elementary school, then Neuhofen secondary school and, from 1963 to 1971, the Kremsmünster Abbey High School . After graduation in 1971 he joined the Congregation of Benedictine in Kremsmünster in, put on 18 August 1972, the profession and took the religious name Ambros on. He then studied philosophy and Catholic theology in Salzburg . In 1977 he obtained a master's degree in theology. On July 11, 1977 he was ordained a priest in Kremsmünster.

He then worked as a cooperator in Vorchdorf (1977-1981), as a chaplain in Einsiedling (1978-1981), as a cooperator in Thalheim and at the same time chaplain in Schauersberg (1981-1987). From 1987 to 1990 he was a cooperator, then a pastor in Bad Hall .

From 1994 to 1997 Ambros Ebhart was dean's youth pastor of the dean's office in Kremsmünster and since 2000 dean of the dean's office in Kremsmünster. In 2005 he was elected convent delegate to the general chapter and third assistant to the congregational presidium .

On 2 March 2007 he was elected for twelve years by the Convention for the abbot and on 1 April 2007 by Bishop Richard Weberberger OSB benediziert ; Co-consecrators were Bishop Ludwig Schwarz SDB and Former Bishop Maximilian Aichern OSB. His motto is: Per ducatum evangelii ( Under the guidance of the Gospel , Rule of Benedict, Prolog 21).

He is also the protector of the Stiftsgymnasium Kremsmünster and worked there as a religion teacher.
