action
Frank is divorced and recently lost his job. When he was diagnosed with an incurable brain tumor , he no longer wanted to endure his life. While watching television, he decides to simply commit suicide. Shortly before he wants to take his own life with a pistol, he sees the spoiled teenage girl Chloe on a reality TV show who has a tantrum because she “only” gets a Lexus instead of a Cadillac Escalade for her birthday . Frank decides to rid the world of rude and annoying people. In particular, he wants to kill “stars” of the reality TV programs he despises.
On his "mission" Frank receives unexpected support from the schoolgirl Roxy, who watches him murder Chloe and then joins him. Together they attack rude moviegoers, radical Christians, road users who block two parking spaces with their car, spiteful TV presenters and those involved in a talent show.
Frank later learns from his doctor that he has not had a brain tumor after all. When it turns out that Roxy was not honest with him about her family and childhood, he breaks up with her. Frank then procures an AK-47 to kill employees and visitors at a casting show. Roxy joins him again and both are finally shot by the arriving police officers.
Reviews
Alex Billington from firstshowing.net gave 8 out of 10 points and said:
“It gets a little preachy at times, making it hard for everyone to enjoy, and repetitive or over-the-top with its mockery of American culture, but I thought it was hilarious. It's not as good as World's Greatest Dad , but it's definitely amusing. ”
“It sometimes becomes too instructive, which makes it difficult for many to enjoy it, and the film is too repetitive and exaggerated in mocking American culture, but I still enjoyed myself. The movie is not as good as World's Greatest Dad , but definitely amusing. "
The critic Eric D. Snider of the website film.com praised Joel Murray's performance, but missed a real development of the protagonist and awarded the rating B−.
“Static characters make poor protagonists - unfortunate, given how fine-tuned and sympathetic Joel Murray's performance is. I had the same thought when the movie was over that Frank probably has on a regular basis: Is this all there is? "
“Static figures result in poor protagonists - which is regrettable in view of Joel Murray's finely tuned, personable performance. When the film was over, I had the same thought that possibly haunted Frank on a regular basis: Was that all, nothing more? "
