America is the debut album by the folk-rock band America , which was released in 1971 . The first edition of the album was initially not a commercial success, but a short time later they went back to the studio to record the piece A Horse with No Name and release it as a single. In late 1971 and early 1972, it became one of the band's biggest hits, after which the first album went platinum, which was supplemented by the hit single. With Sandman and I Need You , the album also contained two other tracks, which are still very popular today and are regularly featured in the band's live program .
