The ZMC Amicitia Zurich was a Swiss handball club that merged with the handball section of GCZ in 2010 . Both logos were used until the 2017/18 season. In 2017, the Amicitia logo disappeared from the jerseys.

The club emerged in 1962 from the merger of the clubs HC Amicitia (founded in 1931) and ZMC 61 (founded in 1961).

In 1986 the girls department of the association was founded. On April 1, 1989, a further merger with the DHC (carried D amen h andball c lub) Zurich for ZMC Amicitia Zurich.

The name Amicitia means friendship, ZMC stands for Z ürcher M ittelschul C lub.

On August 23, 2010, the club merged with the handball department of the Grasshopper Club (GC), also based in Zurich .

 Sporting successes

Men

The men's team of HC Amicitia was Swiss champion in 1937 in field handball, which is no longer played today . The club won the Swiss indoor handball championship in 1987, 1988, 1989, 2008, 2009 and the SHV Cup in 2009 . The greatest success was reaching the European Cup final in 1987, which was lost to CSKA Moscow . In the same year, the club was awarded the Swiss team athlete of the year award.

Women

The women's team became Swiss champions in the National League A in 2004 . In 2005 they won the SHV Cup.
