Amina Viktorovna Okueva

Amina Viktorovna Okujewa ( Ukrainian Аміна Вікторівна Окуєва * 5. June 1983 in Odessa , Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic , USSR , † the thirtieth October 2017 in Hlevakha , Kiev Oblast , Ukraine ) was a tschetschenischstämmige doctor Euromaidanaktivistin and Islam converted Polizeileutnantin.

biography

Okujewa was born into the family of a Chechen father and a Polish mother in Odessa. She spent her childhood and adolescence in Moscow and Grozny . In 2000, at the age of 17, she converted to Islam and fought against Russian troops in the Second Chechen War .

In 2003, her family decided to return to Odessa. There Okueva enrolled at the National Medical University and specialized in general surgery. After graduation, she began working as an intern in a local hospital.

With the outbreak of civil protests in Kiev in November 2013, she joined a unit of Afghan veterans and was mainly involved in distributing medical tents to demonstrators. She later joined the Kiev 2 battalion as a paramedic and went to war against pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine. However, due to its direct involvement in the battles for Debaltseve and Luhansk , Okueva could practically not provide any medical service.

Okueva ran as an independent candidate in the parliamentary elections in Ukraine in October 2014 and received 3.7 percent of the vote.

Attempted assassination

In early June 2017 lived Okujewa and her husband Adam Osmajew , leader of the after Dzhokhar Dudayev appointed Chechen battalion, a spectacular attack. This was perpetrated by a man who posed as Alex Werner, a journalist for the Paris daily Le Monde . He was reportedly planning a major report on the fight between the two in Ukraine. While driving together in the Podil district of Kiev , he unexpectedly shot a pistol at Osmajew, who was once accused in Russia of preparing an alleged assassination attempt on Vladimir Putin . Osmajew survived injured, among other things because Okujewa reacted quickly and opened fire on the attacker. The arrested offender was Artur Denisultanow (aka Курмакаев Kurmakayev identified). He was a Russian national of Chechen descent who was known by the nickname "Dingo".

assassination

Okujewa did not survive the second attack on October 30, 2017, which was actually aimed at Osmajew. Together with Osmajew, she drove to Kiev in a car that day. At a railroad crossing near the village of Hlewacha in Vasylkiv district of Kiev Oblast, they were suddenly caught in a hail of bullets. Okueva was hit twice in the head and died on the scene. Osmajew was slightly injured in the leg. So far, the perpetrators and clients could not be identified. However, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry suspects the Russian secret service FSB to be behind the fatal act.

Okujewa was buried in Dnipro on November 1, 2017 at his own request next to Issa Achjadowitsch Munayew . Munayev was Okueva's comrade in arms and was killed in the Battle of Debaltseve in February 2015 .
