Amorim is a place and a former municipality in northern Portugal . The place is known regionally for its hot-eaten bread specialty, the Broa de Amorim .
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1033, already as the seat of the municipality of Santiago de Amorim . The parish extended to the ocean .
Until the administrative reforms after the Liberal Revolution in 1822 , Amorim was a parish in the district of Barcelos , and in 1836 it was incorporated into Vila do Conde . Since 1853 the municipality has belonged to Póvoa de Varzim.
In 1922 the newly created community A Ver-o-Mar was spun off.
With the municipal reorganization in 2013 , the municipalities of Amorim, Aver-o-Mar and Terroso were dissolved and merged to form the new municipality of Aver-o-Mar, Amorim e Terroso .

Amorim was a municipality ( freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Póvoa de Varzim in the district of Porto . The community had an area of 4.8 km² and 2784 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

With the territorial reform in Portugal on September 29, 2013 , the municipalities of Amorim, Aver-o-Mar and Terroso were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Aver-o-Mar, Amorim e Terroso . Aver-o-Mar became the seat of the new municipality, while the former municipal administration in Amorim remained as a citizens' office.
