Amos 5 is a commercial communications satellite of the Israeli company Space Communication Ltd . The communication with Amos 5 broke off on November 21, 2015 for an unknown cause. The total loss of the satellite has been suspected since November 22, 2015.

Amos 5 was brought into geostationary orbit from the Baikonur rocket launch site (together with Lutsch 5A ) on December 11, 2011 at 12:17 p.m. CET with a Proton-M / Bris-M launcher .

The three-axis stabilized satellite with 16 Ku-band - of Thales delivered and 18 Alenia Space C-band - transponders and three Ku-band antennas and a C-band antenna equipped. Together with the satellites Amos 2 and Amos 3, which are jointly positioned at 4 ° West, it will provide television and radio programs as well as telecommunications services from 17 ° East to Africa and parts of Europe for 15 years.
