Ampefy is a city in the central highlands of Madagascar . In 2001 about 14,700 people lived there. The plant species Aloe ampefyana is named after this place.

Ampefy is located in the central highlands of Madagascar at an altitude of about 1300 m . The city is located in the Soavinandriana district in the Itasy region . The next major cities are Analavory and Soavinandriana . The Kavitaha and Itasy lakes are in the immediate vicinity of the city. The Chute de la Lily waterfall is west of Ampefy.

Economy and Infrastructure
91.5% of the inhabitants, who belong to the Merina ethnic group ( Foko ) , live from agriculture and mainly grow beans and maize. Another 7% live from fishing, the remaining 1.5% are split between industry and the service sector.
