The Ampersee , also Olchinger Autobahnsee , is a quarry pond in the area of ​​the city of Olching in Bavaria , Germany . It is about 8.5 hectares and is reminiscent of an upturned hand ax . The lake was created in the years 1938–39 through gravel mining . It is located in the Untere Amper landscape protection area and in the immediate vicinity of the Amper and federal motorway 8 . There is a campsite on the east bank. The Geiselbullach waste incineration plant in the Fürstenfeldbruck district borders on its northeast side . It is mainly used for fishing. Bathing is allowed.
