Amroha is a city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh .

geography

Amroha is located in the north Indian plain 30 km west of Moradabad . The city is the administrative seat of the district of the same name founded on April 24, 1997 . At the 2011 census, Amroha had 198,471 inhabitants.

traffic

The national highway NH 24 ( Ghaziabad - Moradabad ) runs 8 km south of the city center. The city lies on the Hapur- Moradabad railway line .

Amroha is on the railway line from New Delhi to Moradabad. On June 25, 1921, a 135 meter long section of the railway embankment was washed away and the locomotive of a train and the following two third- class passenger cars fell into the water. 42 people died in this railway accident.

As a city, Amroha has the status of Nagar Palika Parishad . The city is divided into 31 wards .
