The Amsler Island is an irregularly shaped island in the Palmer Archipelago off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located between Loudwater Cove and Arthur Harbor just off the coast of Anvers Island . The Norsel Point forms the northwestern branch of the Amsler Island.

For decades the island was mapped as part of Anvers Island, as the Marr-Piedmont Glacier covered its eastern part. A rapid retreat of the glacier ice in 2005 exposed a waterway several hundred meters wide between the Anvers and Amsler islands, which is now known as the Amsler Passage , thereby revealing the actual nature of this object. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the island in 2007 after the couple Charles and Margaret Amsler, who had been marine biologists for the United States Antarctic Program since 1979 for almost three decades in the Anvers Island area.
