The Bestwig office was an office in the Meschede district .
history
In 1832 the Eslohe district was transformed into Meschede district. In addition to the mayor's office in Eversberg, the new district had four other mayor's offices with the parish of Velmede. With the introduction of the rural community order in 1841, these became "offices". For spatial reasons, the seat of the official administration was moved from Eversberg to the new joint municipality of Velmede in the same year . In 1881 the official seat was moved from Velmede to Bestwig . Until 1911, the office was called Amt Eversberg zu Bestwig . Upon request, the office was named “Amt Bestwig” in the same year.
In 1961 the office had 14,285 inhabitants with an area of 103.02 km². In 1975 the Bestwig office was dissolved and divided between the cities of Bestwig, Meschede and Olsberg .
