Gruiten Mayor's Office

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Gruiten mayor's office was a mayor's office in the Mettmann district . In 1927 it was converted into the Gruiten office, which lasted until December 31, 1974.

history

The Gruiten mayor's office emerged in 1894 from a division of the Haan mayor's office . In October 1890, the mayors' meeting decided that Haan should apply for town charter without the rural communities of Millrath , Obgruiten , Schöller and Gruiten, which are part of the mayor's office . On December 6, 1892, the council decided to hand over a petition to the provincial parliament and to ask "to speak out in favor of the award of the city order and to apply to the royal government for the award of the same". The division was carried out on April 1, 1894, the rural communities Millrath, Schöller and Gruiten were separated from the mayor's office in Haan and merged into the mayor's office of Gruiten. At the same time, the municipality of Obgruiten was incorporated into the municipality of Gruiten, with the eastern edge going to the municipality of Vohwinkel .

On January 1, 1928, the mayor's office was converted into an office while retaining the municipalities . In 1929 the district of Mettmann was dissolved with extensive changes in area and incorporated into the newly founded district of Düsseldorf-Mettmann . In 1938 the community of Millrath was renamed Hochdahl .

During the large municipal reorganization of North Rhine-Westphalia on January 1, 1975, the office was dissolved by the Düsseldorf Act . The community of Gruiten with Obgruiten was incorporated into Haan , the community of Hochdahl was merged with the city of Erkrath to form a new city of Erkrath , and the community of Schöller came to Wuppertal . The legal successor to the Gruiten office was the new city of Erkrath, which was created through the merger of the city of Erkrath and Hochdahl.

The name of the Gruiten Office lives on in some corporations that were originally founded for its area, such as the general housing cooperative of the Gruiten Office.
