Obgruiten was an independent rural community in the mayor's office of Haan in the 19th century and is now a district of Haan in the Mettmann district .

history

The municipality Obgruiten was due to -order community for the Rhine province of 23 July 1845 in succession of Berg Honschaft Obgruiten , which until the nachnapoleonische time was from the late Middle Ages and until 1806 as Honschaft to the bergischen Under rule Schoeller in office Solingen belonged. In 1806 the French assigned the Honschaft Obgruiten to the newly founded Mairie Haan, which in 1815 under Prussia was converted into the mayor's office of Haan.

In 1888 the Obgruiten covered an area of ​​244 hectares , which was divided into 150 hectares of arable land, 10 hectares of meadows and 65 hectares of forest. The church belonged to the parishes Schöller (Protestant) and Gruiten (Catholic). The 20 residential spaces included 38 residential buildings and 57 households. Of the 287 inhabitants of the parish, 146 were male and 132 female, 147 were Protestant and 131 were Catholic.

In 1888 the Obgruites included the residential areas Aue , Birschels , Hasenhaus , Heidersprung , Jienberg , Klappmütze , Klevenhäuschen , Klevenhof , Kortenhäuschen , Mühlenfeld , Osterholz , Pilscheuer , Scheifenhaus , Scheifenheide , Schlösserhütte , Vockenhaus , Vogelsang , Voosholz , Ziegelhäuschen and Zur Mühlen .

In 1894, the communities Obgruiten and Gruiten were merged, with the eastern edge of Obgruitens going to the community of Vohwinkel . At the same time, the enlarged community of Gruiten and the communities of Millrath and Schöller left the mayor's office in Haan and have since formed the mayor's office of Gruiten . With the municipal reform of 1975, Obgruits came to the city of Haan through the incorporation of Gruiten in Haan.
