The Nieder-Weisel office is a former administrative and judicial district of the House of Solms in today's state of Hesse .

history

After the Lords of Falkenstein-Münzenberg died out in 1418 , the Counts of Solms-Braunfels were able to record strong territorial growth in the Wetterau , including the rule of Munzenberg Castle . The Nieder-Weisel office was part of this Munzenberg inheritance . The office consisted of Nieder-Weisel , Eberstadt , Ober-Hörgern and Hausen with Oes , which after partitions from 1479 finally belonged to Solms. In 1622 the branch line Solms-Hohensolms was formed . The ownership of this line of the House of Solms consisted of the Office Hohensolms and the Office Nieder-Weisel.

In the confessional conflicts of the 17th century, Emperor Ferdinand II. Seized Solm's possession in 1637 and transferred it to Landgrave Georg II of Hesse-Darmstadt as a pledge . Count Philipp Reinhard II agreed with Landgrave Georg II on a recess after which the office of Hohensolm was returned, but the office of Nieder-Weisel should remain in Hesse. With the Peace of Westphalia , the normal year 1624 was restored. With this, the Nieder-Weisel office (including the debts of 26,000 guilders on it ) fell back into possession of Solms-Hohensolms.

The financial situation of Solms-Hohensolms led to several pledges of the office. In 1692 it was pledged to the Landgraviate of Hesse for 60,000 guilders. In 1695 the pledge was redeemed and at the same time the office was pledged to Victor-Amadeus von Anhalt-Bernburg for 52,000 florins. After that, Eugen Alexander zu Thurn und Taxis was a pledgee. In 1699 this pledge could also be redeemed and the office remained in the possession of Solms-Hohensolms.

After the death of Hermann Adolf Moritz zu Solms-Lich in 1718, the Solms-Lich line died out and Solms-Lich and Solms-Hohensolms were combined to form Solms-Hohensolms-Lich . Hausen mit Oes came to the office of Lich of the united county, the office of Nieder-Weisel therefore consisted of Nieder-Weisel, Eberstadt and Ober-Hörgern at the end of the HRR .

With the Rhine Federation Act , the Principality of Solms-Hohensolms-Lich lost its sovereignty in 1806 and was incorporated into the Grand Duchy of Hesse. The now Hessian Office was part of Standesherrschaft Solms-Lich in the Prince of Solms-Hohensolms-Lich as Standesherren further skills in the official administrative and patrimonial had. Hausen mit Oes was reassigned to the Nieder-Weisel office during the Hessian period.

In 1822, the administration of justice was separated from the Grand Duchy of Hesse . The Nieder-Weisel office was abolished. Its administrative functions were transferred to the newly established district of Hungen , the court functions were taken over by the Lich district court . This also came true according to the Solms patrimonial jurisdiction.
