The five municipalities of the city of Dassow , Harkensee , Kalkhorst , Pötenitz and Selmsdorf were united in the Ostseestrand office ( district of Northwest Mecklenburg in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ) to handle their administrative business. The seat of the official administration was in Dassow. On January 1, 2004, the Kalkhorst community was incorporated into the Klützer Winkel office. The formerly independent communities of Harkensee and Pötenitz were incorporated into the city of Dassow on June 13, 2004. The office existed from 1992 until it was dissolved on January 1, 2005. The remaining municipality of Selmsdorf and Dassow were transferred to the office of Schönberger Land .
