The district court in Brandenburg an der Havel is responsible for matters of ordinary jurisdiction in the independent city of Brandenburg an der Havel as well as large parts of the Potsdam-Mittelmark district.

The seat of the court is Brandenburg an der Havel ; its judicial district is the independent city of Brandenburg an der Havel and large parts of the Potsdam-Mittelmark district (former Brandenburg district).

history

The district court is located in a building that belongs to a barracks complex that was initially used by the Wehrmacht and then until 1992 by the group of the Soviet armed forces in Germany . After the withdrawal of the Russian troops, the former barracks were extensively renovated. In addition to the district court, various municipal and state authorities such as the tax office , the land registry and the office for pollution control moved to the site. A historical cuirassier barracks in the immediate vicinity , which was used by the National People's Army , is, among other things, the location of the Brandenburg University of Technology .
