From 1806 to 1857 the magistrate's judiciary was linked to the administration of the Grand Duchy of Baden . The district court was located in the town hall, which was destroyed in the great city fire of 1908. In the same year, the Grand Duchy of Baden acquired the property on which the current district court stands. The building in which the district court is now located was built between 1908 and 1909.
