District Court Street 21

The building at Amtsgerichtsstraße 21 , the so-called Floßherrenhaus, is a listed building in the old town of the Upper Franconian town of Kronach .

Location and description

The three-storey saddle roof building is in a corner position on the west side of Amtsgerichtsstrasse, directly south of the confluence with Strasse Am Pförtchen. Opposite the gable end facing the Amtsgerichtsstrasse there is a small square on the east side of the street, to which the western building of the Old Town Hall is connected. Directly on the south side of the building is the eaves-side neighboring house at Amtsgerichtsstraße 19, on the west side the building Am Pförtchen 1, which is also eaves-side.

The ground floor with the arched entrance and the first floor of the building were made of sandstone , the second floor and the gable show ornamental frameworks . On the northeast side of the second floor there is a five-sided corner bay window, which is also provided with an ornamental framework .

history

The ground floor of today's building at Amtsgerichtsstrasse 21 was built in the late Middle Ages , the first floor was probably added around 1600. The second floor and the polygonal corner bay were built in 1679.

During the period of National Socialism served the house in the District Court road in honor of Adolf Hitler in Adolf Hitler street was renamed in 1936 as the seat of Nazi district leadership . This had previously been in the building at Kulmbacher Strasse 2, the “Deutsches Haus” restaurant, since 1934. The National Socialists referred to the building as the "Ostmarkhaus" based on the Nazi administrative district Bayerische Ostmark , to which the town of Kronach belonged. The official inauguration took place in the presence of the NSDAP Gauleiter Fritz Wächtler on March 15, 1936 with a parade of the various NS party organizations.

After the end of the Second World War , the building served mainly the local trade unions, and since the beginning of the 21st century it has housed a hotel and a brewery restaurant.
