To Anna Blume is a Merz poem that was written by Kurt Schwitters (1887–1948) in1919and very actively disseminated. Schwitters wrote several versions. He distributed one of them in 1920 as an advertisement for his new volume of poetry on the advertising pillars in Hanover , where he lived. The poem comes from the artistic and literary movement of Dadaism .

Kurt Schwitters published three volumes of poetry with "Anna" in the title from 1919:

In the 20th century, the poem inspired countless poets and lyricists all over the world to write Anna poems for their part or to allude to them in their works.

Others

  • The American author Paul Auster refers to Kurt Schwitters in his novels by naming characters Anna Blume. He gives the character so that a touch of non-existential, such as in the novel In the Country of Last Things ( In the Country of Last Things ). The older character Anna Blume also appears in his novel Reisen im Scriptorium ( Travels in the Scriptorium Jul 2007). There is also mention of a character named Anna Blume in the novel Moon Over Manhattan ( Moon Palace ).
  • The painter and graphic artist Willi Rieser from Zurich implemented this and other poems by Schwitters graphically, in which he assigned a more or less stylized face to each letter or punctuation mark.
  • The composer Stefan Wolpe experienced Schwitters' performances of his texts himself and described "Anna Blume" as a small opera. In 1929 he wrote a setting of the poem for piano and musical clown.
  • The composer Bernd Alois Zimmermann used the poem in his Requiem for a young poet .
  • The Stuttgart hip-hop group Freundeskreis makes reference to Schwitters' poem in their song ANNA .
  • In Hanover there is the inclusive culture café “Anna Blume” in the entrance area of ​​the Stöcken cemetery .
