Siegfried Neuenhausen (born November 30, 1931 in Dormagen ) is a German sculptor , painter and graphic artist , author and publisher and sculptor of realism .

Life

The former grain distillery at Bertramstrasse 4 A / B in Hanover-Hainholz , seat of the artist gallery (s) of the same name

Neuenhausen studied painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1952 to 1959 and at the same time studied philosophy at the University of Cologne . From 1956 to 1960 he received a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation . He then worked as an art teacher in Hanover from 1961 to 1964 . Since 1964 teaching activity at the University of Fine Arts Braunschweig and since 1968 co-editor of the magazine Kunst und Studium . In 1983 he acquired the Hannover-Hainholz grain distillery and expanded it into an artist gallery. From 1985 to 1988 he was first chairman of the German Association of Artists . In 1990 he received a visiting professorship in San Antonio / Texas and in 1996 a visiting professorship in Bandung ( Indonesia ). Siegfried Neuenhausen's work was included in the " Lower Saxony artist database and estate archive ".

Works

General

Neuenhausen's works show social contradictions , are based on topics of social politics and use art to emancipate people. His portrayal became more radical and political in the course of his work, so he put tortured and torso-like people in boxes and on chairs, and pinned them to wooden walls as scraps of clothing . Neuenhausen staged moral appeals, as in 1970 with the sculpture Mann in Kiste . His sculpting is about sociopolitical issues, exposing political lies and denouncing violence, dictatorship and torture. He worked with prisoners in Bremen and with the mentally ill on sculptures in Hamburg-Ochsenzoll and in Wunstorf . For years it has been revitalizing the district culture in Hanover-Hainholz . Together with the graphic artist Klaus Staeck , Neuenhausen launched an initiative for the later Federal Chancellor Gerhard Schröder (SPD): In the election years 1994, 1998 and 2002 and also in 2005, artists donated works for an auction, from the proceeds of which the art prize awarded by Schröder was then awarded Was financed on the occasion .

In 1991, Neuenhausen initiated the Bertramstrasse picture wall in Hainholz, on which eleven artists, some of whom were internationally renowned, such as Tony Cragg or Timm Ulrichs, had designed an industrial wall for the VSM Vereinigte Schmirgel- und Maschinen-Fabriken .

In 2007, Neuenhausen, on behalf of the Hanover University Association, revised the Karmarsch commemorative medal, which is awarded annually in alternation with the science prize by the Friends of Leibniz University Hanover for special services to the promotion of technology and business .

Neuenhausen received the following awards:

Awarded in 2011: figurines and one of the two benches of the Hainholz shoes
  • 2011: Socioculture Innovation Prize 2011. The Socioculture Fund Prize, endowed with 15,000 , was shared by two winners;
    • the "Hainhölzer Kulturgemeinschaft" for the contribution "Sculptures for Hainholz" created by socially disadvantaged residents of the Hainholz redevelopment district and directed by Siegfried Neuenhausen
    • the dance theater project “Hajusum in Bollyland” on the subject of homelessness of young, unaccompanied refugees and migrants, which was organized by the association “Hajusom” ( Hamburg ) in 2011.
