Artist database and estate archive Lower Saxony
Artist database and estate archive Lower Saxony are an Internet - portal with database into which in Niedersachsen active artists their own works as digital estate can incorporate so - easily accessible - to be visible to the public; and to remain visible in the long term. The project is linked to the Lower Saxony cultural heritage portal, which consists of more than 500,000 objects .
history
The project was initiated by the Lower Saxony Ministry for Science and Culture in cooperation with the Association of Visual Artists (BBK). After three years of preparatory work, the database was opened on September 15, 2018 with the participation of the ministerial director in the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture Annette Schwandner, the head of the digital library of the joint library network (GBV), Frank Dührkohp and the federal chairman of the BBK, Dagmar Schmidt , opened at the Kunstverein Hannover . In the course of the subsequent panel discussion, the director of the Sprengel Museum , Reinhard Spieler , explained the advantages of a digital estate created by the artists themselves compared to the previous handling and needs of museums with real, tangible, but usually unsorted and whole estate " bundles " .
