Andreas Spengler (born June 10, 1947 in Goslar ) is a German psychiatrist and psychotherapist .

Life

Spengler grew up in Bad Gandersheim and lived in Wuppertal until 1966 . After a factory term when Evangelical study Villigst studied in Erlangen , Montpellier and Hamburg medicine . As a dissertation at the Institute for Sexual Research in the University Hospital Eppendorf , he presented the first international empirical survey on sadomasochists and their subcultures in Hamburg in 1976 . In 1986 he completed his habilitation there as part of a project of the German Research Foundationabout psychosexual disorders in genital operations. In Hamburg he was involved in social-psychiatric reform projects and in setting up a psychiatric emergency service. From 1988 to 2008 he worked as medical director at the Lower Saxony State Hospital Wunstorf , today's KRH Psychiatrie Wunstorf . In 1989 he was re-qualified at the Hannover Medical School and in 1994 he was appointed an extraordinary professor.

He is a full member of the International Academy of Sex Research as well as a member of other professional societies and publishes on psychiatric emergencies, forced admissions, forensic psychiatry, and psychiatric care. One focus of his work is the psychiatric institute outpatient clinics , the development and establishment of which he coordinated in Germany for the Federal Directors' Conference from 1988 to 2008. He is qualified as a specialist in psychiatry , psychotherapy and forensic psychiatry . He is involved on a voluntary basis and works therapeutically and as a psychiatric expert and expert. From 2008 to spring 2013 he was chairman of the Lower Saxony committee for matters relating to psychiatric health care. He led symposia at specialist congresses and conferences at the Evangelical Academy Loccum in 2004, 2006, 2010 and 2013.

Together with Siegfried Neuenhausen , Spengler initiated the exhibition Elementary Forces , which in 2010 showed the works of artists experienced in psychiatry at the KUBUS municipal gallery in Hanover. He heads a psychiatric art history project through the Göttingen outsider art artist Julius Klingebiel (1904–1965). This was portrayed in a television film on Norddeutscher Rundfunk on June 14, 2015 with the participation of Spengler.

Spengler's professional work was shown in television programs, including NDR III, 1988 "The soul burns", 2 × 45 min. by Günter Seidenberg and Michael Herl and in 3sat, 2006 in "Research trip into psychiatry", 5th episode by M. Biber and E. Rüther.
