An started the World Cup for the first time in Dresden in February 2016 and finished 51st place over 500 m, 48th place over 1500 m and 12th place with the relay. In the 2018/19 season he achieved his first podium finish in the World Cup with third place in the relay in Almaty and won the gold medal in the 1500 m in the 2019 Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk and finished fifth in the 1000 m. In the following season he reached eight top ten placements, including third place over 1500 m in Shanghai and second place over 1500 m in Montreal, tenth place in the world cup over 1000 m and third place in the world cup over 1500 m. In addition, he was third in the relay in Dordrecht and won his first World Cup victory in Nagoya with the relay. At the Four Continents Championships in Montreal in 2020 , he finished seventh in the all-around competition and fifth in the relay.
