To Rutgers
An Rutgers van der Loeff-Basenau (born March 15, 1910 as Anneke Basenau in Amsterdam , † August 19, 1990 in Laren ) was a Dutch writer .
Life
An Rutgers studied Latin and Greek in Amsterdam and began working as a translator for Scandinavian authors, among others. a. by Sigrid Undset . After a few articles, she published her first book of her own in 1947.
An Rutgers was best known for her youth novels ( If you have courage ) and historical youth books ( Die Kinderkarawane ). For Ich bin Fedde around a shy young person from a children's home who, after his 18th birthday, tries to cope with the everyday difficulties of the newly gained freedom, she received the German Youth Book Prize in 1977 . In 1957 she had won it for the best non-fiction book ( Pioneers and their grandchildren ). Four other works by An Rutgers were put on the shortlist for the German Youth Book Prize. As one of the most important contemporary Dutch youth writers, she was awarded the Dutch State Prize for Children's and Youth Literature for her complete work.
An Rutgers van der Loeff died on August 19, 1990 at the age of 80 in North Holland .
