Anaïs Romand

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anaïs Romand is a French costume and set designer .

Life

Romand first studied art restoration at the Scuola Centrale del Restauro in Rome . Through the painter Anchise Roncato, she met painters and set designers such as Lila De Nobili , Renzo Mongiardino (1916–1998) and Rostislav Doboujinski (1903–2000) and worked as a set designer. Through the circle of Italian artists she came into contact with Ezio Frigerio , who created sets for the stage for Giorgio Strehler , among others . Via Frigerio and Franca Squarciapino , Romand was involved as a set designer in Strehler's production The Servant of Two Gentlemen and remained Squarciapino's assistant for several years. She increasingly devoted herself to costume design. When Philippe Collin wanted to work with Strehler's outfitters for his film Les Derniers jours d'Emmanuel Kant , Romand stepped in for Frigerio and Squarciapino who were unable to attend. She created the costumes for the film, which was released in 1994.

In the years that followed, Romand designed the costumes for contemporary films such as Clean and Family Affair , but also historical subjects such as the Flaubert film A Simple Heart or The Love Drama of Venice - George Sand and Alfred de Musset . For the costumes in the 1900 film Haus der Sünde , Romand won her first César in 2012 in the category of best costumes (“Meilleurs costumes”). As a production designer, she was involved in the films Germaine and Benjamin , the television film Marie Bonaparte and Jacques Doillon's Mes séances de lutte from 2013.

Romans is a member of the Association française des costumiers cinéma et audiovisuel (AFCCA). In 2018 she was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.
