Ana-Maria Vera

Ana-Maria Vera (* 1965 in Washington, DC ) is an American pianist .

life and career

Ana-Maria Vera was born as the daughter of a Dutch and a Bolivian parent in the US capital Washington. She began her musical training with her mother at the age of three and made her professional debut at the age of eight. When she was eleven, she was invited to the White House to give a musical lecture to US President Jimmy Carter . This event prompted the Republic of Bolivia to honor Ana-Maria Vera with a special postage stamp.

Ana-Maria Vera graduated from the International School in Washington and received piano lessons from Ylda Novik and Leon Fleisher . She has played as a soloist with such world-famous orchestras as the Philadelphia Orchestra , Cleveland Orchestra , London Philharmonic Orchestra and Tokyo Symphony Orchestra under conductors such as Riccardo Muti and David Stern .

She is musically at home on both sides of the Atlantic and has also been seen and heard in the Herkulessaal in Munich and the Tivoli Theater in Copenhagen . She also organized a series of concerts in Bolivia.

In the French comedy film Say Yes! from 1995 she played alongside Jean-Hugues Anglade and Julia Maraval in a supporting role.

Ana-Maria Vera lives with her husband and daughter in the British capital, London .
